Beauty And The Beast By Walt Disney - 1506 Words

Often considered to be one of Disney’s greatest animation films, Beauty and the Beast is a 1991 musical romance, which tells the tale of Prince Adam and Belle. The story starts with the Prince being cursed to come a Beast by an Enchantress, who saw his arrogance and inability to love. The only way for him to break the spell would be to love and earn love in return, before the last petal of an enchanted rose falls. Ten years later, an old man, Maurice, lost in the nearby forest, seeks shelter in the Beast’s castle. The Beast imprisons him until his daughter, the beautiful bookworm Belle, who dreams of adventure and travel, finds him and offers to take his place and remain in the castle forever. Wanting to change the conversations, and create a new type of heroine, Disney chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg revisited an old project: turning Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont’s tale La Belle et la Bà ªte into a children’s animated musical. To do so, and after hitting a few creative walls with male screenwriters, Katzenberg hired Linda Woolverton to write the script of Beauty and the Beast, and who would consequently become the first woman to ever write a Disney animated feature. As she explains in a Los Angeles Times article written by Elaine Dutka, Woolverton was influenced by the women’s rights movement and â€Å"drew inspiration from Little Women. ‘There s a lot of Katharine Hepburn in Belle,’ she explains. ‘Though the character of Jo is more tomboyish, both were strong, active, women who loved to read--and wanted more than life was offering them’† (Dukta par. 3). In fact, Katherine Hepburn’s portrayal of Jo March is at the basis of Belle’s love of reading and bravery, lead ing the team of writers to give Belle more to look forward in her life that romance and marriage. Furthermore, Woolverton conceived this character to be a feminist, a heroine who, although living in the 18th

It also involves facilitating the continual improvement of the products or goods and services supplied to its business unit (Krause et al, 1997). Supplier development requires an organization to embrace its supplier’s professionalism and aligning it to the customer’s company objective; this can be achieved by understanding, openness, communication, and feedback. Early Supplier Involvement (ESI) is a means for organizations to integrate their supplier’s capabilities in to their supply chain system and operations (Dowlatshahi, 1998). This technique leads to benefits in improvement of the design for manufacture, lowering of total cost, improved quality as well as more customer satisfaction as a result of improved product performance (Liker et al.). Analysis Of Martin Luther King Jr. s Letter From...

It is often believed that for people to feel a sense of worth in their life, there has to be a standard of unhappiness and suffering for them to compare their life to. Many would argue that for the majority to feel privileged, there has to be an underprivileged, unspoken for, minority. The marginalization of certain groups has occurred all throughout history with people being left to feel inferior and being left without access to equal rights. If it was not bad enough that this happens to people, the environment has been marginalized as well. This is where social justice movements and environmental activism come into play. Ethical concepts weigh the morality of different solutions to issues in society. The greater good is often thrown around as a means for decisions to be made. For people who are oppressed, what they see as the greater good may be vastly different from the views of those who are unoppressed. Martin Luther King Jr. s, Letter from Birmingham Jail illustrates how a seemingly innocent attempt at gaining one s rights can be seen as controversial and wrong by others. King was put into jail because of the peaceful protests he led. To those who shared King s method of thought, nonviolence would have been the way to maximize the gains in society by allowing people to gain their rights and doing their best to ensure that little to no people got harmed in the process. Cost Concept This concept states that an asset is worth the price paid for or cost incurred to acquire it. Thus, assets are recorded at their original purchase price and this cost is the basis for all subsequent accounting for the assets. The assets shown on the financial statements do not necessarily indicate their present market worth. As such, there is no relationship between depreciation and changes in market value of the assets. The purpose of depreciation is to allocate the cost of an asset over its useful life and not to adjust its cost so as to bring it closer to the market value. 5. Accrual Concept The accrual concept makes a distinction between the receipt of cash and the right to receive it, and the payment of cash and the legal obligation to pay it. In actual business operations, the obligation to pay and the actual movement of cash may not coincide. In connection with the sale of goods, revenue may be received (i) before the right to receive arises, or (ii) after the right to receive has been created. The accrual concept provides a guideline to the accountant as to how he should treat the cash receipt and the rights related thereto. In the former case the receipt will not be recognized as the revenue of the period for the reason that the right to receive the same has not yet arisen. Entry of Drones in Construction Industry Free Samples to Students

Question: Discuss about the Drones in Construction Industry. Answer: Introduction: Linear Project: the activities which have monotonous nature of work over a long extend of land with two parallel sides of work running along the way like water pipeline, railroad, streets and so on are known as Linear Project. While booking for straight tasks, we have to utilize same resources at various chainages from one action to other as indicated by the accessibility of statutory clearances and movement groupings. Generally spreadsheets are utilized to plan and ascertain other required data (ScienceDirect, 2011). Direct undertakings are of two sorts, one is flat (as talked about above) and the other vertical where the same dreary work is completing in multi storied structures with floor shrewd same monotonous exercises. Time Chainage Diagram: is a drawing technique used for planning and tracking of development activities with straight in nature. This graph is set up by utilizing time area strategy set up of straight line Gantt charts (TimeChainage, 2017). Notwithstanding time and movement arrangement like Gantt chart, data with respect to area or chainage is additionally given to give additional angles to the timetable. We ordinarily track extensive direct framework projects like expressways, railroads, pipelines and so forth utilizing time chainage outline. The sample sketch is attached below. Viaduct option 4, Length=1920 m, 24 m span of viaduct segments, 9 m pier height and 30 m depth boring piling. Assumptions Calculation back-up: Start date of project is 1st January 2020, major activities are site establishment, preparing casting yard, construction plant (weigh batching), boring piling, erection of pre-cast piers sections and finally viaduct segment launching. Total number of viaduct segments are (1920 24) = 80 Nos. Piers = 80 +1 = 81 Nos. To construct the above piers, 8 sets (boring piling + lifting cranes) of equipment are deployed so that 8 parallel fronts can be attacked at a time. Construction Method Statement (Australia. UrbanGrowth NSW Development Corporation, 2008) Scope: this bit of arrangement might cover the Construction Method Statement expressing the means taken to build viaduct of 1920 Mtr length having viaduct portion of 24 Mtr. length with 9 Mtr. high Pier upheld on 30 Mtr. deep piling. General approach and Construction Time: the general approach is expressed in figure 2 which in the wake of plotting in Time Chainage Diagram the general most limited time turned out is 44 weeks from 1-January-2020. That is Project Finish Date is 03-November-2020. Development Site and Access: to avoid any kind of water ingression, the site office, yard and plant is located above the flood plain altitude just adjacent to Chainage 0. The site office is located touching the site to provide quick access and increase efficiency (refer figure 2). Development of Viaduct: the strategies used to build the viaduct are conventional beginning from heaping to wharf top, the dock and the viaduct sections are pre-threw. The new innovation utilized as a part of this venture is the mammoth SLI900. Hazard in using SLI900: it has given a distinct advantage in the development time of viaduct fragments. In the meantime it has many dangers as well. That too as a result of timetable necessity the entire erection stage is falling in wet climate due to which I considered day for erection of every viaduct fragment (refer figure. 2). It has tremendous danger of tumbling from tallness which can have huge effect on venture calendar and cost. 500 T crane for the erection of Pre-Cast piers: the cranes are especially useful to erect the substantial weight. The primary hazard included is the toppling of crane because of wet ground condition, toppling over due to over stacking. These mischances can even have huge effect on calendar and cost of the venture. Any venture or expansive development work like PIB, needed to go through couple of ventures as a piece of venture administration handle like planning, monitoring, tracking, controlling, forecasting and again planning. Different real ware things which predominantly controls the entire timetable of the development of vast railroad lines like PIB venture are earthwork, crushed rock, ballast stockpile, sleepers, rails and construction of bridges or viaducts as least, other may like incorporating item like electrical CI framework. All the above items can be followed using EVM (Earned Value Management) according to which we initially build up the (PV) according to the calendar of advance of movement the amounts are circulated or the other way around. After PV is finished as a major aspect of venture pattern, we begin the following. In which the real site advance information are contrasted and PV. The rate of work finished as for the degree amount is the earned work (EV) and the cost brought about to accomplish the EV is called as actual expenditure (AC). Presently whether the venture is ahead or behind the timetable or cost can be ascertained by utilizing the underneath equation: On the off chance that SPI is under 1, implies the calendar is behind target and can't accomplish in planned time too if CPI is under 1, it implies the cost is overwhelm and can't finish the venture in planned cost. Commodity Planning: should be possible by plotting the amounts over timeframe as demonstrated as follows, where couple of different items is additionally appeared as chart. Presently, once the arranging is done, i.e. PV is acquired, and afterward advance at site should be observed utilizing above talked about Earned Value Technique and taking after chart can be gotten Project tracking using UAVs or Drones: Its flying robot which can be dealt with remote and the flight is controlled through programming installed in structures with GPS. These are moving the methodology advancement tries doing their occupation. Clients are using camera mounted UAV to screen Contractor's improvement works out. Meanders help in obtaining consistent figures and status of the improvement field. Robots may moreover help in perceiving possible hazards or quality issues close by other significant data in an unclear incite and cost-operator way. These are progressively valuable as the traverse of advancement site increases (ConcreteCivil, 2017). Gies, Miep., Gold, Allison. Anne Frank Remembered. Essay Example For Students

Gies, Miep., Gold, Allison. Anne Frank Remembered. Essay New York: Simon and Schuster Inc., 1987. 220pp. Anne Frank Remembered is the autobiography of Miep Gies, the woman who helped the Frank family survive during their two years in hiding. Her book is a primary source or first hand account of the persecution of Jewish people in Nazi occupied Holland during the second world war. It is also the first hand account of the hiding of Jews such as the Frank family, the Van Daan family, and Dr. Albert Dussel during this time. In regard to the books autobiographical format, the author, Miep Gies, does not present the reader with a clear thesis statement. Instead, throughout the book the author discusses her main views toward the actions of the Nazis and their oppression of the Jewish people. Her disapproval of German Nazi actions is evident in the following quotation, when she was asked to join the Nazi Girls Club: How can I join such a club? I icily asked. Look at what the Germans are doing to the Jews in Germany. Let her take a good look at me and see with her own eyes that some Aryan woman was not to be swept in by the Nazis. (Gies, p. 41, 1987). The main source of background to the authors viewpoint is her own story. In order to further discuss her main points and views, a summary of her story must be given. The book began with a brief history of the childhood of Miep Gies. She was born in Vienna, Austria in 1909, where she lived with her parents until the age eleven year. She was then sent to Amsterdam by a program in the aid of undernourished and sick children and was to be adopted by a Dutch family. She became used to the Dutch way of life as she grew older and soon she began to consider herself Dutch, not Viennese. Her association with the Frank family began when she was given a job with the Pectacon Company, owned and operated by Mr. Otto Frank. His company made and sold pectin, which was used for making jam. Mieps first part of the job was to make jam with different formulas of pectin. After becoming an expert jam maker, she was placed at a desk in the office to do office work. She became very close to the Frank family and was invited to their home regularly for meals. She also began a relationship with a man named Jan, whom she later married. Throughout her book, Miep incorporated much information on Hitlers Nazi movement in both the Netherlands and the rest of Europe. She described the slow persecution of the Jews and the various restrictions placed upon them. In July of 1942, Miep and her husband helped the Frank family move into a hiding place named the secret annex, located in secret rooms of the Pectacon company building. It had become too dangerous for the Frank family to live as Jews in Amsterdam. An order came for the Pectacon company to be liquidated as a Jewish business, so Mr. Frank turned it over in the names of his trusted, Christian business associates: Mr. Kraler and Mr. Koophuis. Although legally Mr. Frank had no ties with the business, it was still secretly directed by him with the means of clandestine meetings between the three men. Miep described her responsibilities in shopping for the family and providing them with the necessities of life. She and her husband came up with plans to get extra ration cards in order to feed the Franks, the Van Daans, Dr. Dussel, and themselves. All of the things she did for the families put a risk on her own life; even providing them with her companionship was illegal. However, Miep and her husband became one of the only links the families in hiding had to the outside world. On the morning of August 4, 1944, the efforts of Miep and the families failed when their hiding place was raided by Nazi officials. The families were arrested and sent to prison camps. .ucd5495a0204f0c32d00310c5437a5508 , .ucd5495a0204f0c32d00310c5437a5508 .postImageUrl , .ucd5495a0204f0c32d00310c5437a5508 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ucd5495a0204f0c32d00310c5437a5508 , .ucd5495a0204f0c32d00310c5437a5508:hover , .ucd5495a0204f0c32d00310c5437a5508:visited , .ucd5495a0204f0c32d00310c5437a5508:active { border:0!important; } .ucd5495a0204f0c32d00310c5437a5508 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ucd5495a0204f0c32d00310c5437a5508 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ucd5495a0204f0c32d00310c5437a5508:active , .ucd5495a0204f0c32d00310c5437a5508:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ucd5495a0204f0c32d00310c5437a5508 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ucd5495a0204f0c32d00310c5437a5508 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ucd5495a0204f0c32d00310c5437a5508 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ucd5495a0204f0c32d00310c5437a5508 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ucd5495a0204f0c32d00310c5437a5508:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ucd5495a0204f0c32d00310c5437a5508 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ucd5495a0204f0c32d00310c5437a5508 .ucd5495a0204f0c32d00310c5437a5508-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ucd5495a0204f0c32d00310c5437a5508:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Attorney Essay The only thing left for Miep to do was retrieve some of their belongings.
